Guest Highlight: Devin Ryerson
One month after Dr Devin Ryerson graduated from LA College of Chiropractic in December of 1998, he found a lump in his neck that was diagnosed as Hodgkins Lymphoma. By February he was undergoing surgery, followed by chemotherapy.
Devin’s immune system was so compromised that he contracted pneumonia, and remembers being in a hospital bed writing his will and deciding whether to sign a DNR. But Devin fought, and survived. His brush with cancer helped him see that he wanted to live differently. He wanted to live a simple life, instead of killing himself to try to get ahead.
So Devin sold his things, and moved to Costa Rica, where he lived happily in a shack on the beach. During his recovery he had learned about natural supplements, alternative remedies and realized they could help everyone. Devin wanted to connect with others facing the same struggles, so he spent his time writing articles, comparing notes, and discussing treatments with people around the world affected by cancer.
The question he received with incredible regularity from people visiting his website was “where can I find these products”? Dr Ryerson decided to make professional-grade products available to those who needed them. He then started Pure Prescriptions.
The initial response was astonishing. “We were busy, to say the least, and within a year Pure Prescriptions moved back down to San Diego”, says Devin. Today, Devin, his mother, and sister owns 95% of Pure Prescriptions. The rest is owned by the employees. This is truly a family company, and a work of love.
